"Get Fit Where You Sit" Seated Yoga offers all students the opportunity to practice yoga with the support of a chair and other props. Special care is taken as to each student’s ability and adaptability.

Gentle Yoga begins with a centering incorporating breath work and warmups moving the spine in six directions. Following that, there are a variety of seated, kneeling, standing and lying postures concluding with either a guided or silent meditation. Additional breathing exercises are often included. It is a somewhat active practice and easily modified for all levels.

Restorative Yoga is considered the ‘UN-YOGA’! It is pure rest and relaxation. It is something that is sorely missing in our society and busy  lifestyles. By passively holding postures with supports such as block, blankets and cushions, postures are held for longer periods of time to ensure complete relaxation. Barry’s restorative yoga teacher at the Kripalu Yoga Center told him that his students are ‘fortunate’.

​Yin Yoga like a gentle practice begins with a centering and breath work. However, the practice follows the principles of finding an appropriate edge in holding the posture, letting the muscles relax and then staying awhile. By incorporating various breath work to help not only the muscles relax but also all of the connective tissue matter, as well as ligaments and tendons. In addition to Yin being contemplative, it is a good practice before an active  workout.

“Anytime Dance with YogaBarry” is a gentle yoga practice that incorporates freestyle movement in between postures. Adding some aerobic movement never hurt anyone and a good time is usually had by all!
